Reply:Thanks, nctox.Well the job I got this for is not quite a gate, but it does have one on it. (and 2 doors, also).I'm uh.. well you could say making a silk purse from a sows ear.This is a old locally built livestock trailer that the owner has stripped down to the deck and we're turning it into a horse trailer that will occasionally haul cattle.It'll have a side swing main gate on the rear with a 3' sliding door in it, a tack room up front with a door on the rh side, and an escape door in front of the wheels on the lh side.The bender dies are for making the top bows that will get covered in 20g sheet. The sides will get skinned with some 18g 1/2"x6" hat channel up to 42" from the floor, then the space between the channel and roof will get a few rows of 2"x1" rect.tube to keep the critters from poking their heads out.Once the box and sheetmetal are on there, he's going to take it home and re-floor it as well as replace the mobile home axles with some 4" drop axles.Here's a shot from last week just getting started.But I can see luggage racks and lawn chairs in its' future, too.Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]
Reply:Well after a little ciphering plus some trial and error, here is a finished bow.12" tall, 76-3/16" wide.I only put an 87* bend on each end, so when it's clamped up to the trailer it will create a slight curve in the top to help shed water.
