Here is my grader blade I modified.  I need to to do some landscaping and am too cheap to buy a box blade.  I didn't take pics as I welded it up, only towards the end.   I have the ripper channels formed by 1/4" angle welded into c-channels.  The top and sides are 1/4" plate and the bottum is 1/8". Reply:I am not sure how to make the pictures show instead of the file attachment.I have an Miller AC stick welder, used 1/8 6011 (lots of it) from 90-110 amps. This is one of my first projects so my welding is kinda like that honkey-tonk special you may have ended up with once, it looks better with lots of paint and from a good distance. Reply:Last couple of pictures.  Figured out the attachment thing. I have tried the blade out and it works well.  I may add "skirts" to the sides to keep more material on the blade.Last edited by GLwelder; 09-15-2007 at 12:23 AM.

Reply:I think I can see "excitement" in your future.  Don't hook any big rocks.Looking good.
Reply:GLwelder, Great idea. Have you used it yet? Is your tractor a hundred series? I have a ford 860. It's apart now waiting for new pistons and sleeves. Post some pics of how your scraper works.
Reply:Nice mod there GLwelder.  I bet you saved quite a few hundred dollars by DIY.  I also noticed the muffler in an odd, yet jaunty slant.WeldingWeb forum--now more sophomoric banter than anything else!

Reply:the 850 has a transmission pto and the 860 has live pto.G3
Reply:I had a 1953 NAA for 35 years. It was a 4 cyl gas engine.  Bought it for $1250 in 1972 and sold it for $1250 last year.  Those old Fords were some work horses. I burnt lots of rods on my Sears cracker box keeping the tractor and equpment going.LouSouth Louisiana
Reply:My dad bought a new NAA in 1953 , it was the first year with an overhead valve engine. Good little tractor , it had a front end loader and a scraper and ripper teeth on the back end.[SIZE="5"Yardbird"
Reply:Your welds would Look WAAAAAY better if you used a 1/8 7018 instead of 6011!!!!! those welds are ugly/poor. but if it holds together, than you win.I'd be ashamed of those weldsjust warning you....JohnLast edited by AKweldshop; 01-28-2014 at 05:48 PM.

Reply:does ure tractor have the 6 volt or 12 volt battery on it
Reply:Yep have tried a blade like your and the boxed in version.  We liked the box version . You might figure a way to bolt on some box ends and use it both ways.  Good luck glad it worked out for you.

Start posting pictures of your weldsyou know its just a thought but if you flip the rippers around the other way (when you arent useing it) it may stand up nice and pretty (makeing it easier to hook up).Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few. Reply:I'm with Dave, got to have a rotted board propping it up!That way when you back up to it, you can knock it over! Then cuss yourself for not putting a 3rd leg on it!Wonder where the ripper shanks came from or did I miss that part?I think his welding will hold up fine, now to brace the pivot tube!I fix a lot of those where the guy rips them apart at the tube or bends the blade in half as he was hooking rocks or stumps!
Reply:That's a beast! It's way better and sturdier than store bought ones. Nothing can beat custom made. Great job!
