As my workshop also has to double as a two car garage, space is always an issue, I have always wanted to make a "space saver" welding table. The project got more urgent once I got my very own MIG machine. I quickly drew up something in Solidworks, and cut some parts, including the top, with clamping slots on our CNC plasma at work. The table was buit over the weekend, and works very well, very sturdy too. The clamps work, but I will re-design them to look more like the Miller ones, the "foot" on mine are a little to small. At least I now don't have to crawl around the floor anymore, and maybe I can learn to weld properly too! Attached Images

Reply:You and gfmoul's post on Folding Tables have taken it to a whole new level. Although, I don't need a folding table, I really like it. The one I need is the CNC table. Great job.
Reply:Nice one...I really like it.

Reply:"Sweet Daddy" Right mighty fine work. Gots to make me one of them.
Reply:Thank Guys,I must credit gfmoul for the inspiration, I really liked his table and adapted it to suit my space.Jack: Wow! Talk about inspiration, your garage must be the tidiest setup anywhere, absolutely stunning. I have a long way to go still, but mine will get there!
Reply:AmajubaEngActually, I'm getting inspired to grind that scrap off my table top and find a nice piece of plate like you did. We'll get these folding projects figured out yet.George
Reply:You make that clamp yourself or buy it?
Reply:Socoj2: I made the clamp myself, watch this space for the mk. II version. I want to make the base a little bigger, with a Y shape in the back for a liilr more stability. Also planning to use sleeve nuts for the threaded part of the clamp, and I need to figure out a way to make a rotationg foot on the threaded rod.George, a folding chop saw stand, and nesting feed rollers are next on my space saver workshop furniture quest...
Reply:Very Cool!  Can't wait to see the clamps

Reply:Like the table, how thick is the steel with the slots. thanks william
Reply:Very cool design, I am curious on the plate thickness too. Would be pretty heavy to lift while swinging the legs of the table out? Awesome idea, works well for the limited space!AC-180 Lincolnwelder circa '50's
Reply:I'm rather busy at work at the moment, so the clamps have to wait a bit more, if I dont find proper pads, I will use some small balljoints I have lying around. The plate is 6mm thick (1/4"), which is thick enough for the light fab work this table is intended for. The way the table works is that I swing out the bottom arms with the wheels on, an then lift te dropped leaf, the legs the swing down under gravity, holding the top up. I can hold the top with one hand whil locking a leg into its receiver.Having access to a CNC plasma makes things much easier, those clamps for instance can be knocked together in a few minutes, nothing flashy, but functional. When I finally get round to fine tuning the design, I will share the .dxf's for the clamps.
Reply:AmajubaEng; great job. i've been watching this site for a long time and finally made a reply. I can't wait to see your other work. Great design.
Reply:Quick bumpAmajubaEng, do you think you could post a close up picture of the "Pivoting" part of the base where the castored wheeled arms swing out? I am planning on making something very similar and wanted to see how you tackled making the square tube pivot and not swing out past the table top. Thanks for the inspiration!
Reply:Very nice...would you be willing to share the plans/model from your original post?  What software is that?
Reply:Damn that's a sweet rig!!!Congrats
Reply:Thats awesome, I'm gonna steal your clamp design and the cutouts for the table, awesome ideas!
Reply:Ever thought of sharing your design at diyweldingplans.com? That's a great looking and practical table that a lot if welders could go for. Great [email protected] from my iPhone
Reply:Very cool! i like it.
Reply:You have a winner with that table.  Great Job
Reply:Great looking welding table, cool design and great build. A real space saver!

Reply:Nice design, well done!  Wish I had "...a CNC machine at work..." to do stuff on, all my stuff has to be machined by hand."All of this and some of that's the only way to skin the cat!"
