My new welding trailer for the vantage.

We have been real busy at work and have started to slow down so I have finally got a chance to build my welding trailer for my vantage to get it off of my hookie looking farm trailer. LOL I have gathering parts for the trailer for about a year to build it on the cheap. I got the 5" C  channel steel second hand from a demo job we did at a high rise, the 4" c channel came from a new construction high rise about 5 years ago, the 2'" by 2" 1/4 tube for the axle came from a high school we did, the 2" 1/4 angle I used for the side to side runners was from a community college left over, the fenders I have made out of a old weather guard tool box, the rims I found on craigslist guy hit a curb doing 40 and destroyed one so I was left with 3 17" rims for $50.00 tires I got a hook up on 3 low pro tires 40% tread for $60.00. I pieced the light kit together from left over new parts I had lying around I only had to buy the two turn signals, Got the weld on spindles on sale at northern tool.com . Paint is left over Kubota orange trailer supply had on sale 3 years ago. I had it inspected by the state police and got it titled last week. The state police was very impressed with it and I don't think he believed that I made it my self he kept asking if I had refurbished a factory trailer. Reply:It looks nice, the tongue design is poor.You welded it directly to the front of the trailer instead of running it under.This location is a high bending moment area (the highest on the trailer in many cases). Reply:That is a great looking trailer.  I like the fact that you were able to used salvaged or left over material for your build. The guys are right on the tongue.   A little tweeking will solve that problem.  I've seen a few over the years that were broken off at the point they  are referring too. No big problem for you I bet you can make the modification blend right in.   I really like your tool boxes and those are pretty sharp wheels you installed.  Good luck and thanks for the post.

Reply:I like those fenders on it. But you really should fix that weak tongue.
Reply:I would cut the tongue off and carry a new one underneath.  I don't know how much weigh you plan on having in those boxes, but if it has to do with steel, I can tell you it will be heavy.  DO OVER as my son would say.Another thing, you most likely will want to run a second axle as you will be over the capacity of the single before long.
Reply:The trailer tounge is not going any where I have 4 in by 4 in by 3/8 gusset plates welded to the tounge to the from of the 4" c channel.
