Here´s my first real welding-project, a welding table made up of 50mm square tubing scraps from work and also some 8mm plate steel cut into 80mm wide strips with a cnc plasma cutter i sometime operate.Welded it up with my dads crappy old mig welding machine cranked up all the way and the 8mm steel plate is welded up with my kemppi minarc 150 amp 1 phase welder. Now im looking into a MTS-machine that does DCtig, stick and mig.all that is left is to add a bottom out of diamond thread, and also a set of wheels from an old car jack donated to me by my dad.
Reply:Looks nice..those slats are useful for clamping metal..well done.Did you add support in the middle of your table?
Reply:That 'crappy' old mig you described burned thru the top plates just fine....don't retire it yet Nice design that can be made bigger and thicker to suit.

Reply:Ya, a middle support would help you a ton.
Reply:I like the table - good job on your first one I'm finding over time that I like a slat table the best. Slat table also drilled would be even better for me.My current table is 5x8 but one flat sheet - my next one will be slats and hopefully drilled as well.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:Good job Michael.  I like the idea of the slats to clamp parts too.
Reply:It's looking good and well made. Great idea on the slats. Like it.
Reply:nice job. how about a bar across the narrow end to hold those clamps or is this a work in progress?i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:Great ideal -- good clamping functionality and you don't have to manage one big piece of metal to get the build completed. Yah, that little welder did a good job and it does not look like you got any warping from weldng instead of screwing!!!I would like to copy this but I have?'sIs that 1/2"?Is there a standard for spacing for the clamps?Did you buy longer pieces or precut - if precut what do shops charge approx these days?Tubing size? looks like 4x4 1/8"?Cheers, PatrickCheers, Patrick
Reply:Nice table. What kind of sled is that?Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:Looks good, wish I had excess material just laying around...."All of this and some of that's the only way to skin the cat!"
Reply:I'd go crazy with all those slots.  I have trouble keeping things from falling on the floor with a flat table.  The Idea Looks good but 8MM is just shy of 3/8 and if you have no stringers underneath. when you clamp to it it will bow.  I may not understand but I would imagine that you can lay a sraight edge across it and just pickup on one slat and have it pick up the straight edge.  Mac

Reply:I like your table design. That is what I'm thinking of building for my welding table.Miller Dailarc HF 250 Hobart 140

Reply:I built mine and love it. Thinking about making two smaller tables identical so I can make it longer or wider when I need it.Great job.
Reply:great job on your first one. keep up the work
Reply:i really like that idea. good job.you got a beautiful table. But it does not fit all. Machine parts for repair, I had to find a table made of cast iron, weighing 1500kg and L = 50mm.
