Super Skyscraper: The Leadenhall Building

On a break from watching Olympics downhill and the wild runs of curling, turned on PBS a minute ago.  A special feature on the design/build of the 41-story skyscraper The Leadenhall Building in London.  Very cool.  Massive tapered steel exoskeleton, prefabbed concrete floors, welding, black glass, granite, and 3D CAD models.  The just-in-time delivery of pre-assembled building components, non-traditional "erector set" architecture/fabrication style, and "early-in" business occupancy on completed floors is breaking new ground in high rise construction.  Impressive.  BOD is planned for mid-2014.Check it out on PBS.  Back to the show!www.theleadenhallbuilding.comLast edited by ManoKai; 02-12-2014 at 10:31 PM."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

Reply:My problem with this is architects and engineers will see this and wonder why we cant do that with their 30,000 Sq Ft. tilt up building.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:That was a good show. Before that, they aired a doc about the domed cathedral in Florence Italy.
