Reply:Looks good Had my 210MVP 2years now and friggin love it.Once you burn up the supplied 1 lb spool, buy Lincoln wire and be forever happy I've had several professional code welders use my shop equipment to make repairs to their trucks or other personal items(it seems no pro offshore welder has his own rig at home), and they always brag big time about how well my MVP mig and Hobart 235 AC/DC stick welders work.Same goes for the matching 200 buck Hobart spool gun.

Reply:Nope, not first bead ever (although that would be nice), I have been using a 115v lincoln flux core welder for the last 5 years or so.  Started running into its limits on both the thin and thick ends of the spectrum.  Did a lot of reading here on this forum and watching both my neighbor (welder on the power company's dam crew) as well as weldingtipsandtricks.comMost of my welding is sticking things together that the kids break.  Been wanting a true mig for awhile.Putting my little Lincoln up on Craigslist after xmas.
Reply:Looks good! Want a tip? Find a metal supplier with some scrap selection! Buying steel from the hardware store is INCREDIBLY expensive. Put a location in your profile someone on here might even be close!!
Reply:@TSCGG13, yep, we have a place called SteelTown about 10 miles from my house.  Lots of scrap for $5/lb   Only open from 8 to 5 weekdays, so sometimes a little hard to get there.  But I like to pick thru their pile for practice pieces.  I bought an 1/8" sheet for a welding table, I have a wood butcher block table that I first covered with concrete board, then the steel.  Works pretty good. Thanks!

Reply:You won't be sorry for buying the 210MVP. I have had mine for 2 years now and love it. I also have the spool gun which i also like. I use the MM 211 at work and i see zero difference in how they weld. The 211 doesn't have taps like the 210MVP and that's the only difference i see. I have been running .35 HTP wire with great results. For the the thinner stuff i use .23 wire. Reply:@Fireman Bill, when you switch from 035 to 023, other than the driver roll and tip (and wire of course), do you change the liner? or will the one that came with the welder work for the smaller gauge wire? thanksHobart 210 MVPOxy/Propane Smith Torch SetupLincoln Wel-Pak 100HD"Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyways" ~ John Wayne

Reply:Your weld looks a little over sized. Spatter BB's are pretty large, probably could have increased the wire speed to reduce the spatter level. Weld looks plenty hot enough. With my 245 V input, tap 4 (door chart recommendation) is pretty hot for 1/8". For me, tap #3 in dead on perfect for the 1/8" T joint you've posted. The welds produced by my unit on a 1/8", with tap #3, are virtually spatter free.  It looks like you pulled the weld puddle. If possible, I prefer to push the puddle with solid wire. advantages of this are less chance of cold lapping at the toes, flatter weld bead, and I can see the joint better as I am traveling along.Oh yeah, if you take the time to remove  the mill scale, the machine will perform better, and your weld will penetrate deeper. .030 Lincoln L-56 performs well on this unit.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice
