After seeing all the great smoker builds here, I decided to try. Here's the start beginning with a 20 gal compressor tank.("mini smoker"..lol) It will be a reverse flow thanks to the info I was able to find here. All done with a (gasp !!!) 110V MM135,,023 wire, @ 80 IPM, setting@8 on the dial. I don't claim to be a welder, so anything you see that I should be doing different, please let me know.

Reply:Make no apologies for your "lowly" MM135. Bought mine in '97 and have an easy thousand hours on it and it's made me tens of thousands of dollars. I have never had a single failed weld ...and it remains a productive member of my Mig harem. Reply:You will not regret the reverse flow at all. Be diligent with your flow calculations for firebox and exhaust size and they cook really well. I love mine. Looks like you have a great start. And the MM 135 works great in capable hands..... Wish I had one sometimes. .....I use my suitcase of my vantage 300 or ranger. Be easier to have a nice lil wire feed sometimes.

Reply:Now I'm hungry.
Reply:Finally got some time to get a few things done.... firebox, smoke shelf (reverse flow), and frame rails.  Also need to know your opinions of the best extreme hi-temp paint that's readily available. I was thinking maybe engine enamel.... ????
Reply:had a few hrs to make some progress today.  All that's left is the doors for the firebox and cooking chamber(and paint of course). I'll pop rivet a chrome aluminum diamond plate shelf on top of the rails at the handle end. HF had the 10" pneumatic tires/wheels on sale with a coupon for a bit over $3.00.
Reply:Dang, that's purty!!!! If it smokes as good as it looks, you got it made.  Happy cooking.

Reply:Got a few$$ into it but not as bad as it looks. I got 3 5 ×10 sheets of stainless at the scrap yard for trade for some copper wire.  11, 12, and 14 ga. The 2 thicker ones still had plastic on one side but a couple bent corners.  Had to order the expanded for the shelves and a little angle iron.
Reply:Looks good.
Reply:Hey, Tekstar, what size is that fire box? Also thickness? I might have missed it. Also, is there a rack in that firebox? I really like that build and design man. I would love to build one just like that this summer. Any things, so far, you would have done differently?

Reply:I built this one for a guy, can't find the completed pics, but it got a full concession enclosure/ kitchen on the front rotisserie smoker on the rear, he did all the electronics for rotisserie.  Estimated it would hold 2 ton of meat at a time.
Reply:Originally Posted by tekstarThe firebox is 3/16' plate and there will be a rack in it when it's finished.  Right now I'm just making the damper slide plate for the door to control the amount of combustion air and the rack will be just slightly higher than the air inlet. The box is 13"x13" which is a bit bigger than necessary but it allows for the raised rack. Glad you like the build ! LOL.... it's been an educational experience for an amateur like me to figure out the templates to cut the curves to match the tank !
Reply:Finally finished and ready to cook !...guess I'm about to learn a whole new way of fixin food .
Reply:Lookin sweet.  Now let's see some food pron
Reply:I like the dog.  He's like, "what, you think he's crazy - you don't have to live with him"   Nice smoker! The harder I work the luckier I get!  It is nice to be important but more important to be nice.  The best way to predict your future is to create it.  My three mottos.
