MiG gun question.

I have a Lincoln 180c. I was doing a project for my daughters boyfriend. I went to take the nozzle off and clean things out. While trying to unscrew the nozzle the liner starts to come out. I tried several ways of taking off the nozzle but I'm not having any luck. I've ordered a new gun, but I want to make sure this never happens again. I think somehow I fused everything together. I can unscrew the tip itself by using a pair of needle nose pliers, but nothing else will unscrew. Has thin happened to anyone before? What can I do to prevent this from happening again. If I need to post picks let me know.
Reply:Sometimes spatter and grit get in the threads between the diffuser and nozzle.Sounds like the nozzle is stuck to the diffuser and the diffuser threaded out of the goose neck of the gun.If you can get the pieces apart clean them up and put it back together if not replace the diffuser and nozzle.Diffuser is a 35-50 and the nozzle is a 21-50.....20.00 in parts should have you up and running.
Reply:Pics would help, but I believe the part that is coming out with the nozzle is called  the diffuser. It is a common and inexpensive part, available at any LWS. You DO NOT need to replace the whole gun.To prevent it from happening in the future, just tighten the new diffuser securely into the goose-neck of the torch, and put some anti-seize compound on the threads of the diffuser where the nozzle screws on.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Thanks for the responses. It's too late. I wasn't sure what really to do and already ordered a new MiG gun from HTP. They sell a replacement gun for all kind of welders. I ordered it yesterday and got it today. They're less than 50 miles from me so that's why it got here so quick. Incidentally, it seems like a better quality gun than what had come with the welder.
Reply:Glad you got your problem fixed....too bad it cost the price of a new gun.50 miles from Chi town?.....I thought they were in Florida.As much as I hate Lincoln the Magnum 100 is a good gun so the HTP must really be nice.I would think anti seize would make a mess,I've never had seizure issue from galling just crud in the threads.
