Hi all,I found a big yellow P & H 300 with high frequency but it is probably 30 to 40 years old. It is 220 single phase hook up , has no foot petal, just an on/off switch on the torch. It looks rigged but I don't know anything about these old machines. The guy wants $700, does that sound reasonable?Last edited by fheckro; 08-16-2010 at 09:34 PM.
Reply:I bought it! ($500) Now i need a manual. It is a P&H Model DAR 300 HFGWSpecification 2100H1821Serial F32224Any help would be appreciated. ThanksFred
Reply:I think I have a Army version of the manual in pdf if you want it.
Reply:You bet. Can you email it to me? I wired it up tonight and fired it up. Works great. Haven't hooked up the water supply yet so i could only stick weld but it seems to work well. need to run it through all the switches next.Thanks. Fred
Reply:That machine was built by Miller Electric. It was probably a model 330A/BP.Most Miller Electric distributer / service shops should have or be able to get a manual for you.
Reply:...I have a P&H....model is DAR 300 HFGW, also is 'spec2100'....made in 1958 by P&H....works fine....original foot-pedal, but I think the early Miller resister types will also work...Input is 240 single phase at 90 amps for max...painted hammer-tone green instead of yellow though. Unit is mounted on a wheeled base which is also about 20 gallon water tank, pump at rear....and there's a door below the fan in rear with factory schematic pasted inside...as for operating manual?...unit works about like the old Lincoln 300-300.... Word I get is these were the top of the line at the time....as good as the Lincolns...all internals on mine are very heavy duty....I'd say $500 is a good score.... This is the very same P&H that still makes the huge mining equipment, and overhead bridge cranes.... Doug....Dougspair
Reply:...P&H..300....there should be a small door at the top front....inside is mechanical timer for TIG post-gas flow....mine still works, but you can install electronic timer relay if it's not functional.Dougspair
