i just got a CPO 350. it needs some repair but i hope to have it running soon. im coming off a milwaukee 6190 metal saw. im hoping the scotchman makes some near perfect 45* cuts.are you also running their measuring system? seems that would speed up repetitive cuts a whole lot. id have to buy that new. i would think it would be worth it.share any thoughts or tips??
Reply:Ive used one fairly often, just make sure to pay attention to your feed and keep the coolant at the right mix. If you dont add water every so often it just makes an oily mess.Havent used the measuring system, but im sure its nice.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:Got a haberle myself but its pretty similar to the scotchman. Repeatability is great with a saw that heavy but I'm still wary of the measuring marks after years of use and abuse (I got mine used). I've been using a quickie square but want to get myself some quality machinists angle gages to be sure.By "Measuring system" you mean a Tigerstop as rebadged by Scotchman. I've heard they are nice. Might want to check ebay before you spring the cash for one. What are you cutting that you need precise 45* angles on? Blade selection will make a difference here.
Reply:im building furniture from mild steel 16 and 14 gauge mild steel and want to TIG all my joints. eventually want to switch to stainless steel. so my cuts and fitting need to be spot on.I'll look up Tigerstop measuring system. thanks for that info!joel |
