The vocational school I'm planning to attend awards a diploma for completing all of the courses, and I'm just wondering what it's worth, and if I would be better off getting the technical certificates for certain welding methods and then going straight to an apprenticeship. The certificates are listed below. I understand that different companies need different types of welding based on the materials, and I can't predict where I'll be working. Just curious if the diploma itself is valuable, or if there are some courses that aren't particularly necessary. Kind of like a calculus course, you need it to graduate, but most people will never use it again...Advanced Shielded Metal Arc WelderBasic Shielded Metal Arc WelderFlux Cored ARC WelderGas Metal Arc WelderGas Tungsten Arc WelderVertical Shielded Metal Arc Welder
Reply:In my opinion the only paper work an employer is interested in, is welding certs. And then all that does is get you in the door, because youre going to take their test anyway. The most important thing you can do is stuff as much knowledge between your ears as you can! Dont worry too much about paper work, you have to prove what you can do everyday. And make the company money, or you wont be there long.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
