take advantage of this mistake, I do not have enough amperage in my shop to run machine to its full capacity. should have bought the 52, anyway, I tried it out on a stainless job I was doing & that was it. probably 10 - 15 minutes of actual cut time. will sell for 1500.00 Bob 203 721 5087 Attached Images
Reply:Great deal. But, please change your title. Out of respect for Hypertherm. The Cutmaster 82 is a Thermadyne / Thermal Dynamics product. I am a little unsure of your reasoning for selling. You did a great job at not buying to small a machine. What stops you from simply not turning the current up to maximum output on the Cutmaster 82. . The Cutmaster 82 is an 80 amp plasma. The Cutmaster 52 is an 60 amp plasma. The Cutmaster 82 will cut like the Cutmaster 52 if the current is set at 60 A and a 60A tip is used. Thanks Gene
Reply:xt300301nut is right in pointing out that is not a Hypertherm.Rdionne my STRONG advice is to keep the Cutmaster 82 rather than selling it at a loss. Your comment of "I do not have enough amperage in my shop to run machine to its full capacity." does not make sense if you own a shop. It would be far cheaper and alot less hassle to keep the Cutmaster 82 and have an electrician wire in an additional breaker to run the Cutmaster 82! If running a shop you need to plan for not only your existing needs but any needs that might arise in the future, plus it is most likely you would be needing to add additional outlets and circuit breakers as you expand your shop.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.& 2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:sorry about the title, will edit as soon as i figure out how to, this is just a hobby for me so my shop, is my garage which only has a 60 amp service. the plasma requires 65 amps @ 230 volts & my air compressor requires 25 amps @ 230 volts that does not include lites ,radio, or whatever else is on @ the time. for maximum capability use, would require a service upgrade & electrical upgrade ( bigger gauge wire ) for the load. I just will not use it enough to justify the upgrade. easier just to take the hit & move on. If it does not sell I will just use it @ its lower amperages & it does work just fine.
Reply:You can supply the air with a gas powered compressor, then you can run the plasma almost all the way up on the power you have available. I have a few machines that won't hit max capacity on the 50 amp circuits/outlets I have on my sub panel, but you won't be seeing any for sale ads for my machines!MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:If you have a friend or know someone that does electrical work I would still contact them before before I sold the CutMaster 82 at a loss. The electrician will be able to give you some better options on your power plan. Only way I sell my machines and when they die of old age after living a hard life.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.& 2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.

Reply:spector: got the asking price, I kept the 95s stick welder that came with it ( free) so i feel I broke even. I can get the 52 for 1470 shipped so everything worked out well. I am going to do a little more homework before purchasing, but I am pretty sure I will go with the cutmaster 52.
Reply:Try the Hypertherm Powermax45 before you buy the 52. If you could......try them both on a piece of 1/2" or thicker steel......you'll be pleasantly surprised at the power output of the 45......it has some new torch technology called conical flow.....which provides very straight edges, faster cut speeds and longer consumable life. If you shop around yould find prices that are only slightly more than the 52......and it has higher duty cycle at a higher operating voltage...meaning more killowatts for cutting. And......it is made in the US.....the Cutmaster power supply is US made...but the torch is not.Jim
Reply:thanks Jim, I will look into it. Bob
