I have a line on an old P+H 300 amp AC/DC welder with full tig equipment, lots of torch hose, water cooler and lines, foot pedal. Welder is said to be in good working condition.Price is right, somewhere around $3-400 for everything, but the welder is in Idaho and I am in BC.I already have a similar P+H except it is 400 amps straight AC and missing all the tig hardware.I've been searching for a good foot pedal , cooler and the rest. Instead finding all of the bits I need to get mine going for al., I found this complete welder setup and ready to go.Anyone here ever TIG welded aluminium with one of these old girls, and if so how was it to use? There is no pulse, no AC balance, just an HF switch and control.I'm mainly interested in using it for Aluminium, already have a newish little 200 amp DC inverter for TIG/Stick welding other metals. Also, is anyone travelling in a pickup truck or larger from Idaho to northwest Washington or Southern BC in the next while? The welder is located near Boise Id.Last edited by worntorn; 10-14-2010 at 04:28 PM.

Reply:I believe William McCormick Jr runs one or two.A few other P&H owners have posted about 'em.Pedals seem to be the highly-wanted item.Maybe a search would turn something up.At the border what sort of wringer will customs put it through?Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 10-15-2010 at 12:31 AM.
Reply:Customs should be no problem, I'll just show them the bill of sale and there might be a small amount of tax to pay, that's about it. Bill McCormick kindly gave me a foot pedal for my P&H, but it was his last one . It was stripped of components and has a broken ceramic. Not sure if I can do much with it.I was looking for another foot pedal and the rest of the gear when I came across this complete welder with all the tack, looks to be the same vintage as mine, maybe 1940s or 1950s?Unfortunately Bill has been banned from this site so I'm not sure how to contact him.Last edited by worntorn; 10-15-2010 at 02:45 AM.
Reply:William, banned??? I vote to lift any ban.How 'bout contacting him at his www.rockwelder.com site?No sense mentioning it, but I will:The P&H and other beasts and their parts are around, but not commonly advertised. I passed on a complete ready-to-tig P&H for dirt cheap, just because I wasn't in the mood. There can be a quandary when prices get too cheap; people quit bothering to save or try to advertise the items. Then, said items can seem to have become very scarce and of course the price climbs. And then when the price climbs, it can bring more of 'em out of the bush. But if too many are stirred up, it floods the market and prices plunge. Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 10-15-2010 at 11:35 AM.
