Hey guys, you really know your welders so I have a question... what is a lightly used, Lincoln CV 305 ready pak with a LF-72 wire feeder worth? Good all around welder? way too much for a smaller commercial shop with 3 phase power? LF-72 wire feeder good as well or should go for a better one? Combo is aprox. 2 years old but looks great, barely a scratch on it. Let me know your thoughts, I would appreciate it. Thank You
Reply:That is a good sturdy combo, if you have the power to run it and the need for a production quality wire welder, that fits the bill. The power supply alone is worth near $3K new.http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...t.aspx?p=19787The wire feeder runs another $1K-plus, new.http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...t.aspx?p=16625If you had to come up with $4K, then just get a new set.I didn't see the ready pack, my fohpa. $4.4K...duh...Last edited by tanglediver; 01-25-2010 at 12:50 AM.Reason: Duh...City of L.A. Reply:Thanks Danny. Power isn't the problem, we could use that big of a welder but I don't want to OVER-do it. If I could spend 4k I would definitely go buy anything I wanted, this was offered to me and I think I can get it around $1800-2100. I would have to rig up a dolly system for them both, I've seen it done on some posts. These units you can tell are used, however, the red panels you can look at and tell it is a lincoln without even seeing a label are still shiny! Can't remember the last time my Miller looked like that. Just wondering if I offered less ($1400-1500) would I insult the guy and lose the good deal or should I take it and go because it is already a good deal? I can't find any used ones in this good a shape out there right now for $ comparison.
Reply:Nothing will kill a good deal faster than trying to low ball it.
Reply:That's exactly what I am saying. If this were a Millermatic or a Wirematic I would know what to offer in a second< I have never dealt with a commercial machine before. Low balling will kill the deal but I don't want to leave more $ on the table than I have to. I wish the guy would just tell me a $ rather than play the game, that way I could tell him yes or no and go on looking for another welder.
Reply:We have some like it at school, and they are the bomb! $2K is a really good deal all the same. Good luck. City of L.A.
