Can't I just cannibalize my Harbor Freight dual mig to convert my Lincoln Weld Pak 155 to Mig?Nothing really has to match up does it? Steal the gauges, solenoid, and gas hose?I had the gun out of the Lincoln once, but don't remember if it is outfitted for gas.The conversion kits Lincoln has seem only to have those few parts, along with a new liner and nozzle.
Reply:It is possible. Open up the Lincoln, and post a pic.
Reply:Thanks.Sounds easy enough that even I can accomplish it.I don't know anything about testing circuits, so if the HF valve doesn't provide a clue to its intended voltage, I will just pick up a valve for it.I will get out in the garage this weekend, and let you know what I find.I've had the HF machine for a few years, but never use it anymore, so it will make a good donor, if the solenoid works.I'll recoup my $$ paid for it, in the savings vs the Lincoln kit.

Reply:You may want to take a look at this video.Ebay solenoid is cheap.I have all my parts but working on the right connection for my 125HD.  (It's a no-conversion unit I guess, but I'll figure it out)

I can then use the 200 bucks to buy steelTomorrow I will find out if the Harbor Freight valve will work on the lincoln.
Reply:Originally Posted by 7A749Unless Lincoln has changed their circuitry, any two wire 115 VAC solenoid should work. There are a set of spade connectors on the motor control board & should be marked Gas Solenoid. You may not even have to put a hole in the machine, if you do use a greenlee knockout tool if you have one, this will leave the nicest hole. Prolly have to add a bracket to hold the solenoid. The Lincoln I did for a guy was the same deal. I added a solenoid & a short length of vinyl hose to the drive. There should be a barb there to connect a hose to. If its there, pretty easy to set it up. The gun should already be equipped for MIG, you may have to buy a nozzle. You will see two O rings & some small holes between them in the body of the connector. That's where gas travels thru to get to the nozzle.Look at the solenoid from the HF machine. If its not marked, trace the wires back to the board & put a meter on the connection points in both AC & DC until you get a suitable reading. Will most likely be 12 VDC, 24 or 115 VAC. You will have to press the trigger of the gun to take a reading obviously. That should get you going. I prolly have a good used solenoid if its 115 VAC.
Reply:My HF dual mig 120 had a valve in the cheap azz gun.  No solenoid.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
