I pretty much just want a little setup to do exhaust work, and fix thngs here and there around the house. I saw this Lincoln setup at Summit racing and wanted all of your input on it.ThanksTyler
Reply:I would pass on that machine as you can get a WeldPak100 or ProCore100 as it is now called from Lowes or Home Depot for a little less than the machine you are asking about. They are both also built a bit better also. Both come set up for flux core and to mig with solid wire you have to add a conversion kit. In my opinion, I would go for the 3200HD that can be found at Home Depot for about $100 more than the unit you are looking at. It is set up for mig and flux core from the factory with everything you need except gas cylinder. Also, it has a higher amp range, higher duty cycle, and you can change the polarity setting as you can not with the unit you are looking at, it is fixed in one mode. By the way, all the units I have mentioned above, are made by Lincoln. Go larger if you can swing it, you can always turn a larger machine down, but you cant always turn a smaller machine up. Reply:Also, if your heart is not set on a Lincoln, you can check out the Clarke 130EN at www.weldingdepot.com. It comes with everything except the regulator and cylinder, can do solid wire for mig or flux core for about $275. I just bought one and so far am satisfied with it for what I use it for.
