Aluminum flatbed

Son is redoing a 79 Chevy K10, dropped in a 292 from an old Chevy C60 and are in the process of fabbing an aluminum flatbed, frame material is 6061 T6 and diamond plate is a 3003. all welding so far with the Miller 30A spool gun of a miller 251 with argon. .030 wire.  best part is the frame is made from 2x4x 1/4 rec. tube. a little heavy but it was free, my cousin had corporate come in to his work place and the big boss, (female) said get rid of all this junk, threw out 2 dumpsters of steel and aluminum stock. Permission from his boss and we made quite a hall of material. None will be scrapped. Makes you really scratch your head. Reply:19 year old first time out with the spool gun,little cold on this weld but decent fusion, I like it quite a bit hotter and as time went on got him into a decent spray transfer, will try to get a shot of some of those welds. For those that haven't used the spool gun on aluminum, it is quite something and very forgiving as long as your on 1/8" or thicker material. I am also fairly new to it but like it alot.   For those of you who may have seen some of my other posts, I have added the Mohawk lift to my garage, which is now beyond full but it is something I have been missing for a long time. A friend and I stumbled on to a guy who services and installs lifts in all the NE shops and dealers, he also takes out the old ones, we have been buying and selling the used ones from him for a few months now and everyone we know now has a lift it seems. I had bought and sold 3 when the mohawk became available , the profit I made on the others covered the entire price of the mohawk so I am into it for 0.   Stay away from the cheap chinese lifts for $1700, the guy I have been dealing with takes them out and won't even resell them, they go to scrap, they are that bad, often damaged and bent and even if not , he scraps them rather than getting someone hurt in his words. Reply:Keep the pics coming, I love seeing everyones work, from a simple welding table or cart to the more advanced stuff like this. I don't post a lot, cause I get way too busy. I do look a lot at the great work here. I can pop in and look at stuff while making calls or on hold at work.    Love the aluminum work. I bought a Spoolmate for my 210 last year. Still in the box...I'll get time someday
