Hello, I am an ASME Certified Welder. Most of my skill is used welding high pressure boiler tube. I work at a coal fired power plant with two 650 MW Drum Boilers. I am trying to find an Original American Optical WELD COOL Cobalt Blue lens #10 or #12 (Preferably #10, But I'll take what I can get.) These are Rare & hard to find. I know how good they are & what they are worth, So I Am Willing To PAY TOP DOLLAR if i can find even one. I would even consider a TRADE for a "Like New" 3M Hornell SPEEDGLAS 9002X AUTO DARKENING WELDING HOOD if someone has some of these American Optical lenses in their possession & the conditions are right. This is a Very Expensive hood and anyone who knows what one is knows I am SERIOUS about this. If you have some (or even One) of these lenses & want to sell, or work out a trade for the SPEEDGLAS please contact me at:[email protected]:[email protected]
Reply:good luck i love those lenses they are worth their weight in gold.If you dont find one check out the green lenses from Philips safety they are excellent lenses for the welding we do.i like them all most as much as the cool blues.crystal clear puddle with out the flare around the edges. The best part is they are dirt cheep. After the arc has died the weld remains
Reply:Thanks, I will try the Philips lenses. I'm willing to try anything but nothing compares. I bought a couple of the New Weld-Cool #10 from AOSaftey (Formerly American Opticial) They're pretty good lenses but nothing like the original Blue Weld-Cool. They're more of a Forest Green color. The best I've found so far is a Vintage Lincoln Super-Visibility #9 Just like the Weld-Cool they don't make 'em anymore but if you can find 'em they're the next best thing.
