Im getting ready to go take a weld test 6g aluminum 2" sch 80 and Im wondering if anyone else who has taken this style test has any experience in it. The setup is a 1/4" gap and a backing ring.My main question is will the aluminum pipe be beveled or not? Filler is 4043 3/32" etc etc.TIA
Reply:Usually the coupons will be beveled, but it depends on your companies procedure.
Reply:Your coupons will be beveled. It will be hard to get full penetration on sch 80 pipe without beveled coupons.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:Gentlemen,Please help. My company is working on two procedures: 6061-5086 and 6061-6061, both 2" SCH 80 6G, pulsed MIG. We are meeting radiography and bend test, but failing tensile. We are using 100% argon, about 147-164 amps, 20 volts, 3/64" 5356 wire. We are trying to keep the temp down, but maybe this is an issue. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.Mike
