I don't know if anybody else on here does portable bore welding and line boring but I'm sure there are.... Here is a quick job i did on friday 2" holes....

Reply:Looks good. Expat does lots of line bore work on some of the heavy mining equipment. Looks good. What bore welder are you using?I use to do lots of that type of work on esco , P&H , L&H and several other shovel buckets. Left  to work the gas line . Mis it once in a while did nothing but heavy mining equipment for 6 years ha ha made me get out some old pics.

Reply:No he built up the hole with weld and then machined the hole back to spec.  Looks like a good job with good equipment. I have 7/8" dia bars, 1 1/4" dia bars and 1 3/4" dia bars all different lengths from 2' To 8' I can weld from 3/4" up to 24" dia and bor from 1" up to 24" plus measuring tools, 30 ton ram and hydraulic power pack  to press bushings in. Miller inverter and wire feeder to run the bore welder. a bunch of home made jigs and bearing supports..... Reply:That is a totally separate skill that requires pretty specific equipment. Looks like you know what your doing and have the goods to do it. I farm that work out to another guy. Its like 75% of his biz i think. Price is right and i know it will be spot on every time. Thumbs up!

Reply:I am about 20 miles outside of Philly. We work a price out per job. Really depends on the size of the bore,the amount of holes, how bad it is worn ect. Can be as low as a few hundred a hole and up into the thousands.

Reply:ttweld, Thanks for posting. There is a lot of interest here. If you do not do this type work at your job, then the tools and equipment is pricey. For your regular welder, hobbyist and DIY Guy  making a line boring set up is possible. But the bore welder is not. Personally have great interest and have slowly bought some tools . So far have a Mag drill and a hydraulic hole ram and as time and money permit will fab a boring bar. The real challenge will be to get a bore welder or make a DIY bore welder.

Reply:Thank you guajilloweld03,  It is very possible to build your own set up. I only have a couple bearing supports that came with my set up and everything else is home made by me. Every job is different.  You need to be smart and think how to adapt what you have to make it work on what you need to weld/bore....
