Welder advice needed

This is the stick welder I just got. I want to make sure I run it correctly so I need advice. I am not sure if I am supposed to insert the upper leads into the bottom unit and the the electrode and ground welding cables into the upper unit or leave it like it is and insert the welding cables into the lower unit. I am not sure why there is an on/off switch on both upper and lower either. Can anyone give me operating instructions on this unit, thanks

Reply:Bottom unit is probably an AC welder. Plug one lead into the A, B or C receptacle up top and lead 2 into the numbers receptacle below to get a certain amp range. Top unit may be a DC rectifier. I believe you plug those leads into the receptacles below and your welding leads into where it says electrode/ ground.Clearer picts of the writing on both units would verify if this is what I think it is..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I think the top unit is a high frequency rather than a rectifier. I had read in the past about Midstates high frequency units to make striking and maintaining an arc easier on AC.
