Quick question on the miller high frequency boxes.. I'm gonna have to run one of these this weekend off my bobcat, no contactor on the bobcat obviously and no secondary contactor on the box.. Planning on running it hot I guess.. Do you still need a switch of some sort to operate the high frequency on and off?? What do you guys suggest for this? Also, what triggers the gas solenoid without a contactor? Does it trigger automatically when the arc is struck? Basically looking to see how you guys configure these units when not using a remote. Thanks!Last edited by mrusso; 11-27-2010 at 12:50 AM.
Reply:If you run a foot control, the micro switch in the pedal activates the HF and gas valve in the 251 on 14-pin terminals A & B. Same would go for a finger control. In both cases the amp control stops at the box and does nothing for your set up and output control would be adjusted at the Bobcat.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Alright so I have to run a remote of some sort to acivate the HF and gas.. the panel/remote switch on the freq box is just for determining what controls amperage i take it.. Thanks.
Reply:Actually no. The Panel/Remote switch turns the HF on in the Panel position which leaves only the gas valve to be activated. This need could be eliminated by using a TIG torch with a manual gas valve.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I have one of these units in Brand new never been used condition, anyone want to venture what it would be worth?Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Dually, I would say average used price in nice condition, about 50-60% of the MSRP, or 60-80% of the going new price. If it's in as-new condition, take the higher of the range. Use the Miller model number to check the MSRP with Miller, or www.miller4less.com, or check the going street price with www.cyberweld.com. Remember to account for whether or not yours has the contactor, as that adds some to the price.Last edited by DesertRider33; 11-28-2010 at 01:08 PM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op |
