Hey yall I'm new to the forms and likewise very new to welding. I've got a lincoln Pro Mig 135 and the wire is jammed in the cable. After reading the post on the sam eproblem with the 175 a few posts down I think I might have clogged the liner. The welder came set up with .025 Mig wire in it because the guy I bought it front had been running it with gas. I hadn't had time to get a bottle yet and needed to tack a weld last night on a set of seat brackets I'm making so since the welder came with .035 Flux wire I figured I could set that up instead. now the a string of events (several hours of trying to get it unjammed and not knowing what I was doing) the wire broke just past the drive roll and just outside of the gun tip.Wow that was a lot more explaining than I thought, so anyways the short question after the long explination, I've got my manual in front of me and it never specifies, do i need to remove the gun/cable assembly from the welder before I install the new liner? Reply:I´m the guy with the 175...I think that gun can run .035 wire...If you can get a small amount of .035 wire you could probably expell any remains of wire that you have inside of the liner... that´s what I did and pushed the .035 fluxcore I had on it. I will work great...Unless the liner is kinked I think you could use the same liner you´ll just have to figure out how to unblock it. Have you ever seen the liner? maybe whatching it can make you have some ideas...it is just like a coil really compressed. Using the .035 wire is the one that was the brightest for me. Reply:Even though you indicated the wire is broken off at the gun tip, you did not mention if a 0.035 contact tip is installed on the gun. IIRC, you use a 0.030 contact tip with solid wire, so a 0.035 flux core wire zipping down an empty liner might neck down and get a short distance out of a 0.030 tip before it started slipping at the drive rollers, which by the way should also be swapped going from solid to flux core wire or back. If you remove the nozzle and contact tip you may be able to get pliers on the wire stub and gently pull the wire out of the liner. (You have to take the gun apart to change out the liner anyway.) Make sure the gun cable is as straight as possible before you start pulling.
