powermax45 or 65

I was going to buy the powermax 45 but well that didnt happen i ended up getting a 65 instead.  I guess i was a little drunck last nite and the buy it  now   jumped out at me. my ? is can the 65 be turned down to cut the thin stuff just as good as the 45.  I mite be able to get out of it if i call and tell them i want the 45.
Reply:well i ended up buying the powermax65.   I was able to get the 45 if i wanted but decided to get the 65,  I guess its always better to go bigger than smaller.  just be careful when your on ebay and drunk,  it could cost u more money than u think.
Reply:If they had a 65 when i got my 45, i would have gone that way too.  It will do well on thin stuff too.  I think that machine might have the new torch design as well.Im sure you will like it.

Reply:Actually the new Powermax65 and 85 will cut thin materials better than the Powermax45....if you look closely at the mix of consumables for the 65/85 you will see that we offer FineCut consumables designed especially for materials thinner than 3/16". These consumables use low power settings and produce a finer kerf at lower cut speeds for better accuracy. These Fine Cut parts are not available for the Powermax45.The 65/85 torch, called the Duramax torch....is a completely new torch design. It eliminates the moving plunger (starting mechanism) used in previous Hypertherm torch designs.....with the expected result being better starting performance and longer life and reliability of the torch body. Further, the 65/85 torch uses Hypertherms "conical flow" technology which provides for squarer, cleaner cut quality as well as even longer consumable life as compared to the earlier Hypertherm designs.Stick with the 65....you won't regret it!
