So my project this spring break this year was to rebuild the production barn on my fathers nursery. This includes fabricating a new water tunnel. Derusting and redecking the conveyor bed. fabricating a new roller for the conveyor bed. And building new top panels on the soil hopper. Every nut, screw, bolt, weld, steel, and joint was rusted and pitted like its going out of style. Thank the good Lord I have a air chisel and impact gun or else I would be S.O.L. ill post pics as I go cause the week isn't over yet. Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk

Reply:removed the aluminum deck, and chiseled all the rust out. Then let it soak in ospho for 36hrsSent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Reply:Started fab on the walls to the new water tunnel. Longevity plasma preformed great for gouging off some unneeded things. Plugged into 115volt at that.Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Reply:Looks like the next air tool you need is a needle  scaler. Knoking some of the scaly rust off first will help big time with your plasma consumables. Reply:Today the steel came in for the conveyor bed. Did all I could to make sure I had the right fit up, cause if I've learned anything on here its good fitup=good weld. I had it sheared to the right length from the steel supplier. The bed is 20ft long and I had 10ft sheets so the butt weld in the middle was beveled and TIG welded. BEWARE:my tig welds are horrendous, but they hold tight.I started in the middle clamping the deck down and tacking it. Moving the clamps 6in at a time Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Reply:Right on man! Looks like its coming along great!

Reply:Nope the only thing that is charged is my acetylene exchange. Everything else out of pocketSent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Reply:This is for your dad, right? That means your hourly rate includes room and board! Nice work! GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.

Reply:Is all you got Longevity? How are they treating you so far?
Reply:Seems to be doing great. The biggest problem I have with that machine is 1 the Mig gun is only 9ft so its really hard to get up high and weld or reach across a trailer deck. 2 screws back out alot but thats just simple pre operation maintenance. 3 there is no digital readout on the volts or wire speed. So adjusting the machine right is a little bit of a P.I.T.A.Sent from my C811 4G using TapatalkBut if I ever have a problem or concern with my plasma or Mig machine, just about the entire staff at longevity America knows me by first name cause im damn near the only 15 year old to weld for more then an elective or hobbySent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk

Reply:Hey hang in there and practice and your will get your reward down the road.  Not only are  you helping your dad you are getting some good fitting and welding practice. My son used to  complain because he had to run a track hoe during spring break and on Saturdays while his buddies slept in. He also had to put an undercarriage on a Case 450 Dozer when he was 13.  He got a lot of practice cutting the old rail and pads off.  Now 20 years later  he is glad he did.

Reply:Considering im getting a paycheck and my tax refund on the same week. I think swampy might invest in a nice ac/dc tig inverter. Or breakdown and throw a down payment on a truckSent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk

All a P.O.S. truck does is cost money. New or not, tires, gas, maintenance, shocks. You want a scare ? Call the scumbags at the insurance mafia and get full coverage quotes for a male your age in Floridastan on a new truck. The payments will be a new Dynasty.....every six months ! I'm not exaggerating. Call them.
Reply:so its back to school today.didn't get a chance to upload pics these last couple days cause we were trying to finish everything and I had $hit load of clean up to do. butThe hopper got finished and it was also tig'd out. Then the water tunnel was completed and little odds and ends. Had to make a roller when parts got back from cnc. Just used some 3 1/2in sch 40 left over from the Christmas trailer build. Here some more pics. theSent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
Reply:Thank the Lord I had that forklift. Or else moving all that plate and doing all that plasma cutting would of been a major biatch. It worked good for all the welding I did tooSent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk Attached Images
Reply:Originally Posted by mad welder 4I agree. Buy stuff that will belong to you,  free and clear. Last thing you want to do is buy a truck that could get repo ed because of an endless number of reasons after you put 10k or 20k into it, or you struggle to make payments and cant afford to drive or insure it. The truck would just be a yard orderment that mocks you and uses up all your money. When you could have had plenty of money, bought cool machines, tools, guns so on.Buy something that will benefit you, not the banks and insurance companies.
Reply:A 9 foot gun has to be a huge PITA. That's a good sized project so you probably flattened out the wheels moving the welder around. I use a 15 foot Bernard on a suitcase feeder and that always seems to short. When I work on something big I usally hang the feeder off the overhead hoist and use it like a boom feeder. Looks good so far, looks like you need to track the belt yet .Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Reply:Whats the diameter of your drive roll ? If its 5 inch or bigger I would add a quarter inch to the center and then split that distance to the outside with 1-8 inch . Get some 3-8 round or small square or rectangle flat and make a crowned roll . I think that if you use a single band in the middle you will F up the belt in no time . Good luck .Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches.
