I just received my new miller spectrum 675 plasma cutter.  I am new to plasma and I have a question for the pros.  What kind and type of driers and filters are y'all using?I would hate to tear up my new machine for lack of info. Thanks in advance for your help.

Reply:There are several threads devoted entirely to this issue, but for the new comer best practice is cleaner and drier is always better, depending on your location and water accumulation history.  Take a quick look at the old threads and ask any other questions you may have after a thorough read.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?
Reply:I searched ebay, CL, and some other sites, and found a refrigerated compressed air drier for under $300. Best way to go if you can afford it.
Reply:I'm using an aftercooler between the compressor and tank, an auto drain on the tank, a water separator/filter, and a motorguard "toilet roll" filter before the air goes to the shop piping.  There's also a half-assed intercooler between the stages on the compressor.  It's just a finned pipe.I have another water separator/filter/regulator on the back of the plasma (came with the unit).  The water separator/filter/regulator on the plasma has never seen water, but it has caught some dust and flakes from the piping.  Each air drop has a tee for the quick coupler, and a leg that drops down about another foot to a drain valve.  I've never gotten any water from these drain legs.  I only get water from the first separator when I use lots of air and the compressor runs a while.I could probably do a little better adding a dessicant before the plasma.  I don't really think I need the dessicant on the air supply to the rest of the shop (just air tools).  The motorguard filter doesn't get much moisture at all.  I'm still on the first element.  I think the dessicant would probably last a long time.  The trick is to get the air cooled off quickly to let the water condense.  If you can cool it off before the tank, then it has time to fall out.  Even if you have cool air in the piping, the speed of the air flow may be enough to carry the water along.  The aftercooler is really worth the money.  The inlet is hot enough to give you a bad burn, but the outlet you can hold your hand on.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
Reply:i have a little set up that i made for my force fed sandblaster which requires as dry as possible air or it will clog wat i came up with is i have a set up that has never failed yet first i tryd buying 3 of these but the first stoped the cloging for about 30 mins then every one i added made it last about 5 - 10 mins more so i put one on each out let (i have three comeing out of a 80 gal. 220 compressor) then for my sand blaster line i bought about 20ft of copper flexible tubing then in a plastic bucket and put the copper down in the bottom with some ice and cold water (when im using it for more the 20 mins) and that has yet to fail me i have ran for about a hour and a half. not sure if it is reasonable fix for a plasma unless you will be using it for extended times during a day. not really a plausible fix for just running it here n there . i have some pics of the build if i find them ill post
Reply:A : i have that yellow coiled compressor hose plumbed to the bucket.B : is plumbed to your average compressor hose ran to my fore fed homeade pvc sand blaster
