I have a Forklift Propane tank and No Forklift.I would much prefer to use this for Oxy/Propane cutting.Any of you guys ever pay to have a tank converted? or is there anyway to run an evaporator inline? and how much or where would i buy one?
Reply:For liquid withdrawal It's a matter of a dip-tube submersed in liquid, but...The lift-truck tank is fairly valuable compared to a common LP tank, you shouldn't have any problem getting a dealer or truck user to swap for a conventional LP tank, already equipped with the correct valve for your regulator.  Anyway, otherwise all you need is a cheap old 20# grill cylinder.Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 01-23-2011 at 11:39 AM.

Reply:Go to your local propane distributor and trade it for the one you want.  We've got Allied Propane out here on the west coast.
Reply:What denrep said.  Keeping an ambient temperature heated vaporizer from freezing up in a cutting application might be a bit of a challenge.  ???As with a vapor BBQ tank flipped over to provide liquid withdrawal, you could flip the liquid withdrawal tank over (to expose the end of the dip tube to vapor) for vapor withdrawal HOWEVER!, it's NOT recommended as it puts liquid in contact with the relief valve and any leaking liquid quickly turns into a LOT of flammable vapors due to a 1:270 expansion ratio.  That's why it's recommended to transport LP tanks - vapor or liquid withdrawal - with the relief valve up if transported in the horizontal position.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:If the cylinder has a large fill valve it should be in the vapor fittting of the tank. If it does, You simply swap the fill valve and fill valve.I hate rude behavior in a man.......Won't tolerate it!                   Woodrow F. Call

Reply:Top of the tank...
Reply:How much bigger is this than the bbq bottle?  With a liquid valve you *could* refill bbq bottles with the proper hose and connector.  I fill my bbq bottles from a 250 gallon stationary tank.  I prefer smaller bottles since it's easier to carry and I can easily refill daily if needed.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE

Reply:Take it to a place that has a forklift and tell them you would trade it for two of the regular bottles and I bet they take you up on it. Harold
Reply:If you ever get caught out on a job and run out of gas, just about any gas station, walmart, home depot, etc has a bbq bottle exchange.  I bet they won't exchange the fork lift bottle (and you won't want to).  You'll be stuck unless you can find a propane place to refill. The bbq bottles are a direct fit for my regulator.  Looks like you'll have to buy a new valve and swap it out on the fork lift bottle.  I'd go with the bbq bottle.  It doesn't look like the fork lift bottle has any advantages.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
