Sorry in advance for the dumb question, have used a oxy/acet torch for years, but am not at all familiar with the plasma cutting concept. Short replies are appreciated addressing method, hookup (?) and applications where it would be used. Motivated by some posted pictures I saw showing a ultra smooth finish after cut? Thanks in advance.
Reply:Electrical arc, super heated air for cutting/gouging. Ground clamp on the work piece. That's the Cole's notes version......Mr. Jim Colt is our resident expert on the subject. Youtube has video's as well.200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:Go to the www.hypertherm.com website. There is an education tab.....you can also go to the product tabe and click on hand held, then start looking a some of the application videos. It is hard to tell from your post exactly what you are looking for. Plasma will not replace oxy-fuel....but it usually is much more productive , accurate, easier to use....as well as less costly in many applications.Jim |
