1971 lincoln weldanpower ac130 weak welding arc

i just picked up a 1971 weldanpower ac130 for $100 yesterday and was told it needed some carb work. so i got a rebuild kit, new spark plug, cleaned and adjusted the point and it fired on the first pull!! it runs great but im having a really weak welding arc. the only rods i have with me are 3/32 6011. i have to crank the machine all the way up for it to barley even run a bead. ive read about cleaning or replacing the brushes but not to sure where they are or what they look like. this is my first welder generator. also the outlets run a circular saw just fine. any suggested would be greatly appreciated, thankjs in advance

Reply:I agree with Duane 100 percent!But may I also offer to suggest to look at the lead connections before assuming its the Brushes? Reason being on mine the connections on my stinger get "crusty" hence exhibiting an issue similar to what you are describing!
Reply:alright duaneb55 and anybody else that can help me out(much appreciated in advance), i plugged in the hz meter and got around 65hz. so i turned the engine down to 62hz. still same problem. all i get is a spark at 130amps using 3/32 6011. is this a capacitor issue then? if so i understand lincoln doesnt make the 200 uf capacitor anymore and i would need to get a 800uf one. do i have to get this from lincoln or are there other options?

Reply:i could get a 1/16 6011 to run too small beads but was very hard to do. all the settings seem to be putting out the same amount of amps. on the faceplate there is a stud sticking out that says grounding stud. there is nothing connected to it, what is this used for?

Reply:I bought my capacitors on Ebay, I think there was four 200 UF capacitors in there?I would still check for corrosion on connections first.
