Lincwelder DC250MK Aircraft

Anyone no of the value of an old working DC250MK ( 3 phase 480V )aircraft welder by lincoln.I`ve seen one for sale for $700 but could not get an offer more than $55 here in Michigan.Scrap value alone should get that.
Reply:Hello Chhefer,Welcome to WeldingWeb.That's a mighty fine and reliable welder, but there's just no market for ‘em.At sales, it's not unusual for motor-generator type welders to sell for the first and only bid, and the buyer is often after some included extras, or scrap. Reply:I feel sort of bad contributing to the plug being pulled on this fine welder.Chhefer, if  you take the welder apart, there may be a few internal pieces which could be sold for use with engine-drive welders. I'm thinking that one or both of the controls may be the same part as used with engine-drives. Again, I'm not sure about the interchange.On the long-shot, if  the welder is equipped with a remote current control, that would be a good item too.Occasionally we see posts about building a DIY engine drive welder; it would be tough to find a better welding generator than Chhefer's "coffee grinder" for such a project.Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 05-25-2010 at 09:51 AM.
Reply:When you slice it up for scrap, please post good pics so the rest of us can contemplate how to use the generator section!The dissection would be informative, as would the slaying of any other welders for scrap.
