THANKS
Reply:So this is just temporary? Why do you think you need a subpanel? Are there not enough spaces? What make/model are the current panel/breakers? Are there other large breakers in there now that are not always used, maybe seasonal items? For this size run for a temp. set-up, too, have you considered just a large extension cord from the panel/subpanel?
Reply:I was unable to locate anything other than a parts list on Lincoln's website with the info you provided. Can you give me more of the input power info from the manual, including its rated output and duty cycle?
Reply:MAC 702 - thank you for reply. no not enough room in panel. and yes ,dont really need that line after im ceritfied, then its rig on back of truck, company truck.yes tought of extension cord ,from sub panel.plug it in from panel ,roll out extension cord to yard, when i need it. if this works why not ,but i dont no.be honest with you if that works why not hell of a lot cheaper no.?if it safe and dont damage friends machine great.but in panel what size circuit is required. In my panel now i have 220 with a 40 amp breaker out to yard for central a/c. but dont even want to go there with that.
Reply:Right now temporarly I have my invertec V350 on a 40amp single phase 220 breaker maybe 5 feet from the panel. I have not popped it yet. It seems to draw a LOT less than my wirematic 250 and this is from watching the demand meter. I never popped the breaker with the wirematic either. SO YES an extension cord would be fine as long as its big eough. Does your V250 have a #8 cord? I am not an elelctricion, but a #6 extension should be good.If you have the code # lincoln has downladable free manuals. Go Here http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...et.asp?p=33014 It sez 57 amps on the nameplate and recomends an eight or ten cord.DavidLast edited by David R; 04-01-2007 at 09:24 PM.Real world weldin. Reply:I forgot, duty cycle 30% @ 250 amps.David
Reply:hello everyone and thank you again.as far as my panel it is G.E and it is full.but let me explain, to buy a sub panel and what ever breaker i need is not a problem.I could alwaays use a 220 outlet it the garage, that makes sence, but to run it across my house for a few months of usage in my yard if i dont need to ,i wont.As far as spec.on the machhine i downloaded the manual by typing in lincoln invertec v250s wiring.code number is 10187.serial number is u1970600573,On the insulation specifications they have a bunch of different models and cant really tell which one is mine ,but as far as input voltage amps rated amps eveything is very simular.ON three phase at 230/50/60 recomend 50 breaker , on single phase 220/50/60 recomends 80 breaker. now if i go with say the 80 breaker in new sub panel, and a overkill extension cord of 50 to60 feet.does it hurt, and it still a lot more practical no?Of course i want it safe.i dont wnt to burn the house down.and i do have little guys running around.Anyone have exsperience with this machine / A friend of mine said he welded 12 inch pipe all day no problem.iT is nice and lite small 40lbs tops.
Reply:sorry everyone, but after posting the last post, spoke with welding supplier over here, and from what im told ( lincoln also) the invertec 250 will not burn the 6010 or 7010 rods.thats why they discontinued that model. I guess its plan b for now. thank you and again im sorry for wasting your time.
