A neighbor of mine has a 1995, Lincoln LN-130 for sale for $200, a DC stick/Tig (scratch start) machine (less the tig torch & bottle) for mild steel and stainless. My question ...is this a good starter machine for someone who needs to refresh his stick skills after 20 years,  and a machine worth 'growing into."   I plan to do small, light duty fabrication for the house, shop, and sailboat in mild steel and stainless.Any other words of advice about this machine would be appreciated. Thanks, Craig in Seattle
Reply:Does it have a foot control?DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I just looked at the manual.  http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...et.asp?p=32439Stick and tig welder.  output 130 amps.  Input 230 volts 30 amps OR 50 (fifty) amps 110 volts.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:No foot control ...this just used for TIG, correct?230v/30 amp machine I believe.
Reply:I have one and also a Lincoln SP 170  wire feed but I go to the stick welder where ever possible as it is such a smooth machine. I love it, I run low hydrogen and rutile rods. The max I run is 3.15mm which is just over 1/8", I am contemplating getting the TIG setup to go with it but don't really have a need at this stage. What TIG I need I can do at work.So I would say get it.Clive
