joining two welding cables

Can someone please tell me the correct way to permanently join two welding cables to make a single long cable?Thanks,Matt

Reply:Do you really NEED a long cable ALL the time or just some times? If just sometimes, then get one of the quick disconnect plugs already shown, they are just as good/reliable as the permanent connections. The good thing about them is, if they are not hooked up, you don't have as much lead to wrap back up after you finish if you did not need the extra length. But when you do need to extend your reach, they are easy to hook up. Like stickman said, you need to know your lead size to get the right ones to fit properly.
Reply:A real good advantage to the quick connects over the permanent is, if you have say two forty foot pieces of lead you can extend both ground and working lead 40 feet. But if you need to, you can leave the ground lead the original length and extend the working lead EIGHTY feet.I already have the Tweco connectors and just waiting on the right deal to come a long to get me 2 50' pieces of 2/0 lead to add to my set up. Then I can extend both leads 50', or one of them 100'.
