Hey whats's up guys, I just put a rebuild kit on my SA-200 carburator and the center screw that goes in the throat of the carburator what is the exact setting on that screw? some say 2.5 out and others say 4.5 and me personally lost my manual on adjustments so I thought some one probably got one laying around has the exact spot. One more thing, enjoying viewing all the post keep up the good ones, learing some new thinggs too. Old PIpeFitters never Die, their rods get shorter and the gaps get wider!!!
Reply:I would set it at 2.5 and fire up the machine then do your final adjustment with it running ,back it off untinil it starts to flutter then count the turns back in until it starts fluttering again in idle then back it off to a midway point .
Reply:Yeah I got it like that right now and runs great, just wondering if there was an exact setting that it stays at, mine is about 2.75...Old PIpeFitters never Die, their rods get shorter and the gaps get wider!!!
Reply:No exact setting, that is why its adjustable You can put the machine under full load.  Screw it in till the engine stumbles and go back out till it runs best.   "Tune by ear"  The big one in the center is high speed. The smaller one is Idle.  Just turn it till the engine runs smoothest at the idle speed you desire.DavidLast edited by David R; 10-07-2007 at 12:37 PM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Thats How I tuned mine, had my buddy burn a rod, and I turned the screw. It is the way I like it.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Yeah thanks guys, I got it and for future knowledge it sits almost on 3.0 out and under load it purrs like it did a long time ago, needed one bad it was getting ruff, had one for awhile just catching the time to put it there was all I needed. LOL one more thing today I was replacing my idle up switch because I thought it was bad and just took the ole machine to the car wash and gave it a good spray on the inside and the idler starting working again ain't that some #$%@...still boggled at that one....Old PIpeFitters never Die, their rods get shorter and the gaps get wider!!!
Reply:buy the way check your plugs ? aftert you run it for a bit , they should be a brown color ? , ( I am at 5000 ft altitude so I have to play with main jets to get things to work write here )
Reply:Thanks for the input guys, man I like this website good one BOB, So boilermaker, you must be in the rockies or something but did check and change them solved alot of problems, one may have been fouled or very week. Got it running like it should, purr purr purr purr, For one that is not mechanically inclined (like me) i sure do appreciate all the info. Heres one more Question. If I wanted to clean my magneto what would be the process on that job? is it easy?Old PIpeFitters never Die, their rods get shorter and the gaps get wider!!!
Reply:1 1/2 turns will be close.
Reply:Yeah I got it right now about 3.0 turns out and it seems fine under load but sure using alot more gas... I will give it a shot at 1.5 out and see if it flutters any under load...Old PIpeFitters never Die, their rods get shorter and the gaps get wider!!!
Reply:put it this way if the mag works dont mess with it . they can be quiet the job if you dont have the books and patients , and books meaning one for the engine and one for the mag , there were at least 3 different mags used .
Reply:Yeah your probably right and it might need it in near future hopefully not maybe just need to change plug wires. Mine is a Fairbanks Morse I think?Old PIpeFitters never Die, their rods get shorter and the gaps get wider!!!
