i have a 1971 sa 200 lincoln welder and the welder constantly surges at high idle it doesn't do it at low idle. the governor pulls it down then the carb pull it back up can anyone help?
Reply:Improper mixture, or vacuum leak. Both will cause the same thing. Its called "Hunting". The governor can't find a place to hold still.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Dave, good call, I say it is running lean.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Dirty, sticky linkage. Carb and govener. Has the machine been worked on latley?
Reply:sounds like a gummed up carb , or sticking fuel inlet needle valve
Reply:I bought a 63 redface the other day, it surged when I got it at high idle. The previous owner had messed with the govenor, could not get it right and sold it. Check the gov to carb linkage first, if sticky, it will bounce around and not hold steady. |
