I just finished a Blacksmith school/welding school. The building is 56'x100'. It was a fun project with lots of welding and carpentry. I'll get some better pics soon.

Reply:Most people build a roof to be higher in the center not lower, so the water runs off the ends, not drain to the middle. What's up with this idea?Only in Arkinsaw.
Reply:The Architect isn't from Arkansas and no we weren't drinkin on the job. LOL We built a trough in the center valley that drains into a big tank on the other end for water storage. The tank isn't installed yet. I have pics on my phone of the water running out of the trough during a light rain. It is an incredable amount of water. This was a fun build but not something I'd do for my self. I expect leaks in the future but maybe not. It has a rubber membrane that runs half way up each roof with ice and water barrier above that and covered with standing seam metal.

Reply:Cool looking school . 56'x100' would suit me just fine at home The roof line reminded me of when I was delivering across the street from an odd looking remodeling job.The single story addition (to a two story house) had the roof dumping into the side of the building.Took me 5 minutes to explain to the builder why that was a bad idea...he was slow on the uptake...As I left, the roofing company pulled up and were staring at it with a puzzled look on their face.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Then they just decided to go with it, to keep construction on schedule. I lived in Arkinsaw for 10 years and met quite a few people who had dyslexia. They see things backwards from what the rest of us see.

Reply:If the roof drainage issues are addressed...and they do appear to be, the build looks fine and well designed. While I may or may not have gone with that roofline, it does provide excellent high window lighting to the interior that would not have been available otherwise. As I said, if the drainage issues were addressed it looks to be quite well designed.Lincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.
Reply:that roof line is perfect for working multiple forges. as the smoke and heat will get directed out of the building naturally. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger
