Crack in need of welding

How can I fix this crack on my bracket??    Lincoln 140 Pak MIG Everlast powerarc 140 STLincoln Tombstone

Reply:Hello rockcrawler97, just looking at the pictures that looks like part of the handlebar clamp to possibly a brake lever/clutch lever from a motorcycle of some sort, likely aluminum. If I am correct about all of that, the way that I have repaired those is to find either some stainless steel pipe/tube/shaft of the same size as the handle bar then completely cut out the crack allowing for an open bevel and then "bolt" the bracket together with required thickness of shims between the halves over the stainless steel backing piece. Using a tig welder and possibly some 5356 filler or 4043 weld it back up. The stainless steel won't allow any of the weld to stick to it and will "form" the inside of the bracket to it's original shape. Good luck and best regards, Allanaevald
Reply:easy... clamp it over the appropriate sized tube, grind out a fairly wide gap, leaving a tiny root gap then just tig it up with 4043 filler. Die grind and fill in the inside if necessary and die grind it smooth... 20minute repairWelding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com

Reply:V it out and weld it up. What's the problem?
Reply:put it on the grinder on one of the edges and see if you get sparks to tell if its ferrous or aluminum.  Then v it out and tig it if you have one.
