hey now.i was just curious on what you guys thought about hilti products? ive used a **** load on the jobsite and like em. of course their power actuated stuff is top notch. never ever have a problem with them. i dont hear much hype about hilti from other trades (such as metal workers). maybe its the way they market their products? all i ever hear about is metabo and milwaukee. dont get me wrong i love metabo, but i was curious from a metal workers standpoint or from anyone who uses a grinder all day a lot of times what they think of hilti compared to metabo or milwaukee? i personally own a metabo rotary hammer drill and a hilti sawzall. the hilti sawzall has some balls. on heavy gauge 8" & bigger stud it cuts right through it the second i hit the switch. with dewalt and even milwaukee it takes a second or two before the cutting starts. same blades. its just a lot more smoothe to operate. the hilti rep always calls my house though to ask me how my tools are...the grand ol' opry aint so grand anymoremiller maxstar 150sworking on an oxy/acet set up
Reply:We have some hilti in our shop. Danged expensive, but tough when it gets to the nitty gritty. They were about double the cost of makita or Milwaukee.Miller Pro 30068 SA 20064 SAF 300305 G Lincoln gasserMiller 210
Reply:Hilti is top of the line equipment. Very expensive and very durable. I have quite a bit of Hilti. I tend to buy their equipment but use less expensive fasteners, for example the power actuated ones. It all depends on what you're looking for. A hammerdrill, Hilti. A cordless drill, grinder or lazer level, not Hilti. They do have a great feature on their late model stuff. It's registered to you and if it's stolen it's basically useless from what I've heard. My stuff is pre-security."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:I forgot to add the hilti cordless we have is 3 speed instead of two. I also have several of the grinders that have held up very well.Miller Pro 30068 SA 20064 SAF 300305 G Lincoln gasserMiller 210

Reply:we have bought hundreds of Hilti tools over the years and the only ones people didn't like were the cordless drills. They had a strange shape and werent the most comfortable to use all day, but they were powerful and durable. We have lots of their hammerdrills and pin guns and quite a few other things from them. Never given us any more problems than any other brand.Lately we have been buying a lot of Bosch power tools. Most durable cordless drills we ever bought were the Panasonic ones. We had probably 50 at one time and the only reason we dont still have them is because the batteries cost as much as the tool.

Reply:Their hard plastic cases dont hold up well now that I think about it. Everyone else always had the blow molded cases that bounce when you throw em around, The Hilti ones crack and shatter, not sure if they changed that or not but its something to think about, I know I like having a durable case for my tools.

Reply:I like Hilti a lot!!! They are expensive but you get what you pay for of course. On Industrial jobs it does not pay to run to Lowes to pick up another homeowner level tool. Time is money and money is time. I also love my Metabo grinder. I rate them right up there with Hilti. The difference between Hilti/Metabo and dewalt level tools is the difference between working with your hands verses your feet.

Reply:All of the ironworkers i run into use Metabo grinders(that's why I bucked up and bought one). I can't get the Hilti rep. to call me back. My company uses Hilti for core drills, and powder actuated guns. Dewalt tools quality has gone down now that they are made outside the USA.
Reply:Add my name to the list of Hilti hammer drill fans. I have used Milwalkie, Black & Decker, and a few others purchased by various employers. The one employer I convinced to buy a Hilti bought a time and labor saving tool.Last edited by nadogail; 04-30-2011 at 09:36 PM.Reason: spellingI offer three choices: Good, Fast, & Cheap.
