Anyone use a cold saw type blade on a 4.5" grinder instead of cut-off wheels?  If so, what do you use? Thanks
Reply:Never seen those, I don't  them working very well though.  One of the big things with the cold saws is the clamping if the material and the stability of the saw cutting it.  Not much  stability with the grinder even of the piece is clamped perfectly. You would lose some teeth pretty quick I'd imagine.
Reply:That sounds insanely dangerous.  No offense, and I may be wrong, but wow, sounds scary.  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Jesus no!   Ever had a zip-cut bind up on you and shatter?   Shattering is a good thing in a situation like that!
Reply:Without a good support it won't work. I have used my Milwaukee steel saw to do plunge cuts on sheet steel but, it has the base to use to keep it steady and straight. Sears made this.http://www.sears.com/craftsman-25574...ype=SKIP_LEVEL I have never seen on in person.
Reply:A cold saw type blade on a 4.5" grinder sounds like a really, really bad idea.   I can't see that as any thing other than a recipe for serious personal injury.Another scary thing is a "Lancelot" disc / blade for a 4.5" grinder.    It's just for wood working though.   I normally can't stand having a guard on my 4.5" grinder but there's no way I'd run a "Lancelot" blade with out one.Last edited by HT2-4956; 05-14-2014 at 09:03 AM.
Reply:A buddy of mine who's in to wood working has one that I've used.   It is indeed a scary tool, but boy howdy it'll make the wood chips fly.

Reply:Back when I worked as a paramedic I had a contractor slip with an angle grinder and wood blade in it that he was using to carve something at the floor. Went into his leg pretty badly when it kicked out and I would consider him very lucky that it hit his leg.

Reply:CraboFor posterity - if you are inclined to experiment - please video.Opus
Reply:This is why I asked before I did it.  I know quite a bit about tools and machinery, but I don't know it all and have no problem asking others when I have doubts myself.
