I am in the process of repairing a Powcon 200SM. I ran into sort of a road block when it comes to electrolytic input and output caps in this machine. Powcon used Sprague caps with what seems their own code instead of standard uF and V rating. What I have is this:Output: a single Sprague Extralytic 602DX1317, Powcon part # 900001-001, measured 1528 uF, educated guess 1500 uF, 250VInput: a pair of Sprague Compulytic 32DX6924, Powcon part # 900000-001, measured around 950 uF, educated guess 1000uF, 550V I am hoping that someone over here has been down this road before and got some valid info on the actual uF and V rating of these caps. Also, does anyone have any pictures of the main circuit board ? I can't read numbers on U11 and U12 ICs.Last edited by 1Duc; 04-04-2014 at 10:44 PM.
Reply:Cap sizes sound close enough. Are U11 and 12 known bad or just can't read the letters on the chips? What symptoms is the welder having? Couple of us here have worked on a few powcons. Might be able to help some.
Reply:U11 and 12 are not known to be bad. Every time I work on something of this nature, I try to make a list of all components. Numbers are barely and partially visible, I think both of them are LM324N quad op amps...I was told that this unit trips the breaker, so far all major components checked out fine. I found a few issues on the main PCB and a completely destroyed R6.
Reply:It may be wired for the wrong voltage. If on 220 single phase you don't use the red wire. Do a search for Powcon. There are some on here who have several and know a lot about them. I my self have two and they both work fine.Dan |
