Arrrrggghhh weld flash

At least that's what I thought. I'd walked away from the weld table set my Jackson NexGen down and went to fiddle with the thing I'd been screwing up trying to weld.When I returned to the weld table to go at it again the helmet had shut itself off. It'd been better than 10 minutes I guess.I failed to check the helmetI started up my TIG torchI welded for maybe two  or three whole secondsThen to my horror I realized what was wrong. I stopped the weld pulled the helmet off and lo it was off. Thinking to myself that I was really going to be sorry I returned to the welding  having turned the helmet on.My eyes never bothered me from that and it's been a few days. Apparently the glass stops UV marvelously well even in the turned off state.

Reply:That is one feature I like about the Miller, flash it is on. Had the Speedglas always had to turn it on or make sure it was, the Miller solved that.Magazines have issues, everything else has problems
Reply:If the miller is in grind mode it wont switch to weld automatically. I have surprised myself several times that way. Still no real damage as it does still block the uv well enough. Reply:The lens will block the UV and IR radiation even if it's not active, you basically just did some welding with a pretty light shade of welding lens. Worst case scenario, you're looking at some eye fatigue from the bright light and maybe a big spot for a few minutes right in the middle of your vision but no real damage is done.
