Finally got around to upgrading my air capacity.  For years I've used an old 20gal compressor made sometime in the early 60's.I pulled the trigger on a Champion 80gal, 5 horse 220 single phase Baldor, two stage compressor.  It's made by Gardner-Denver in the good ol' US of A  This motor has a mag starter instead of capacitor start, so it should be more reliable.The regulator, and final filter are made by Master Pneumatics in Detroit. The air line is plumbed to give the maximum length for the space I've got to work with.  It goes around the back of the compressor, then loops up to the roof of the container.  The rise is hopefully going to give the air a chance to condense.  There are water traps below each vertical riser, and a final water filter at the regulator. It's essentialy a high loop with traps at the two low points, with a final filter.The compressor is isolated from the plumbing with a length of hydraulic hose.  Plain pipe thread on one end, and a swivel pipe thread joint on the other end.  Makes for easier installation.I figure there won't be much of a vibration problem since it's mounted on a wood floor, but I did use old conveyor belting to isolate it further.  (I just got it running tonight, and haven't had time to install the lag bolts through to the floor) Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Looks good there Samm. I can't see in the picts, but I'll assume like most, it's got a bottom drain. Do yourself a favor and dump the stock screw drain and plumb a line out with a ball valve for easy draining. If nothing else the water will collect in the pipe rather than the tank for the most part and the ball valve makes it easy to dump regularly. Most guys won't bother to reach underneath to twist the stock drains and usually they tend to leak air anyways if they do..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:It has a ball valve on the underside.  You can't see it.  It's plumbed out the left side with an extension which reaches beyond the underside of the tank so it's easy to reach.  Another reason I feel it's a good investment to buy American.  The stuff is just made RIGHT."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Nice samm! I have what seems to be the same comp. Only differences are the position of my tank 2" ports, the bottom opening where the drain comes out, and the cycling switch. How much did that set you back? I got mine from a local Champion dealer. One of the techs "builds" them using pretty much the same parts. Mine was $1000.00 delivered and placed. Do me a favor, post any pics off your motor tag and tank tag. I would like to see if those are the same. Last pic is an auto drain I pick up from Grainger.
