I picked up a pile of 8 foot pieces of sch 10 3/4" pipe that was being thrown out at work. There's probably 150-200 of them. I would love some ideas on cool things to make with them. I can cut them and I have a drill press for fitting some together, but I have no way to bend them at the moment.Any ideas?
Reply:Rigid 3/4" should be the same size as the schedule 10 O.D. That makes the bending easy, go to an electrical supply house and buy the bender you need, and no, you probably won't find it at Home Depot or Lowes.life is good
Reply:That's cool. Still have no idea how to make use of them, though. I'm excited to have some steel to weld, but I need some projects.
Reply:Welding screen, chairs, tables, coat rack, could make cable hangers
Reply:Fence, trellis, lattice, gate...You could lay them all flat, cut to the same length, welding in 3 or 4 spots, on the bottom make a wave like sculpture.Fort for the kids. If you have the 110 MIG from HF, you could use them to make a trailer, buy stub spindles and use them for axles too.Gazebo, greenhouse...

Reply:Could get your plumbing ticket...
Reply:You could make a rack to store 8' pieces of 3/4" pipe on. What kind of welding equipment you got?

Reply:you could build trusses out of them for the roof of a new welding shop.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:You could build legs and frame for a light weight work bench/table and get a piece of flat plate steel maybe 1/4" for a table top, or just use some 3/4" plywood for the time being until you can find some plate. Make some saw horses to work off of, and use THEM for a temporary table, and a few other sets of saw horses.
Reply:What is your location?
Reply:I've been too cheap to buy new material for wood gondolas, In my case I would make steel pallets with uprights at 19" spacing with rafters I could pile firewood 1/3 cord in each. I could then move them with forks or lifting eye. I have French doors. I could offer firewood into the living room two weeks worth at a time. Can't you use it for a still?Last edited by Willie B; 05-22-2014 at 08:13 PM.
Reply:If you have kids you can make a geodesic dome. That would be a fun build..
Reply:Jungle gym for the kids.
Reply:@ sdgdh1 - after you rip a few of the aforementioned recommended projects "ideas", would use the .083" wall pipe to train & advance your TIG and fabrication (coping) skills and build a stage truss. Perfect project. Could even add design intent into the build and fab her as a set of monkey bars for your children or CrossFit-style equipment.
