Sell or trade wc-115a

I'd like to trade for a good MIG welder- I have a WC-115A Miller with spoolgun, think 50ft. of cables- stick welder. I plugged in to 115v spools out wire. I think all needs to weld is power. Or offer $$$$                                storman   [email protected]

Reply:The WC-115 is what is required to run a 30A spoolgun off any non-Miller powersource, or any Miller that doesn't have a 14 pin amphenol, takes the place of the WC24 where it can't be used.Also has the ability to run the spoolgun off a cc machine, duplicating a voltage-sensing feeder, thus the ground lead the op mentioned in a previous post.   If you use one of these, download the owners manual, there are slight wiring changes to be made, not hard, but needs to be done.

Reply:I need to check to make sure this will work my machine this week. I'm taking it in to the local repair shop to have them check a few things I'm not sure about, the repair shop techs are about the only group that have any knowledge of the Pro 300 here. The sales counter staff just stared at their Miller catalog for a minute and then pawned me off on the miller website when I asked them for the compatible add-on/accessory list for it. Product knowledge before buying is good for a customer to know, but I for some reason assumed it would be mandatory for a factory dealer too.  I would prefer to deal directly with you on the sale. I have a lot of negative feelings towards Ebay lately, too much fraud, too little support from the site when things do go wrong. (Especially with the items that are listed overseas like the one you linked. If you have a paypal account, that would be best so I don't get dragged into a bad ebay deal as a 3rd party to what you're buying. That's about the only way I'd be interested. Reply:Wrenchbender,  you don't need a WC115A to run a Spoolmatic from your Pro 300.  All you need is the little WC24 controller.  It plugs right into your Pro 300's 14-pin remote connector.  It has a 10-pin connector on the other end that the Spoolmatic plugs into.  Run the Spoolmatic's gas hose to the argon bottle's regulator.  Put a Tweco, Dinse or lug connector, to match whatever type you have on your Pro 300, on the Spoolmatic's power cable and connect that to your Pro 300's positive weld output connector.  Set the machine to CV wire remote on the process selector.  The Pro 300 will automaticaly sense the remote device connected on the 14-pin outlet, at least newer ones do.  Maybe older ones have a seperate panel/remote switch.  Anyhow, that's all you need to weld aluminum with your Spoolmatic.  The WC24 is about $250 new from Miller and is a small thing, much smaller than a WC115A and easier to hook up too, only 2 multi-pin connections, that's it.   Yes, you can use a WC115A to connect a Spoolmatic to your Pro 300, but the WC24 is really the way to go with your machine, or any Miller with 14-pin remote capability, such as Trailblazer or XMT.  The WC115A is made for those machines that don't provide 24vac via a 14-pin connector, such as a Bobcat.Last edited by DesertRider33; 10-18-2010 at 01:49 AM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Storman, As Desert remarked, this may not be the ideal setup for me. DesertRider gave me more information in the links above than I've received all together this week from the LWS. (Thank you DesertRider)  I've got plenty of leads already, so this may be better suited for someone else who is going to appreciate all the parts you're including with it. If you don't sell in the near future, maybe we'll visit this again later. Priority wise, I've got a lot of other parts I need to source for my new welder, namely the parts for a TIG setup and a wire feeder.
