I'm looking for a tig machine to do aluminium 3/16 -1/4 and under.  Does anyone here have one and if so what do you think of the thing?  I've had great luck with Eastwood stuff before so that's a good start.  I understand they have it made in China but my budget is right in that ballpark really.    How does it compare to the Everlast rig?  Does anyone know a better way to reach everlast?  I have posted on the forum, called and still get no response.

Reply:Ya I hear ya.  My budget will always be the same for a tig machine. I just don't want to put any more out on a machine than that.  I find the transformer machines here almost free.  I need something that can run wide open on 30 amps and would be nice if I could run some on 110 as well.  I'm with you on the warranty part of it.  I think all of the machines are getting that way.  I had a Miller machine a few years back go down and the guys I bought it from took so much time dealing with it I bought a replacement, just like they wanted me to .  When you take a welder in for some repair and the next guy you see is the sales guy you know they have no interest in fixing the machine.

Reply:Thing should last forever with not being able to hardly run it and all with the power I have .  If I wanted a transformer machine I wouldn't be able to find one for anything,ha.

Reply:Ya I'm going to be using a cooler.  I was just talking price of the base machine.  I'm in a different location now than the dealer that worked me over on service.  I thought the specs on the eastwood didn't do a lot of good either.  That why I posted asking for folks that have one to comment on real world use.  Specs from the manufacture don't hold as much water with me than someone that has one and is using it regularly.  I guess the machine is too new to have many out yet.  Looks like Miller gave up on the Econo tig machine.
Reply:The Econo Tig was replaced with the Diversion165 and now they also added the upgraded version the Diversion 185 with the ability to run on 110v/220v. Looks like Hobart has changed over now also.  All 3 are really under powered for alum and you give up a lot vs the next step up the Syncrowave..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Ya I've talked to 2 guys that have the bigger Diversion and they neither one care for the machine itself much.
Reply:Been thinking about the Eastwood Tig200, too. Just got off the phone with them, sold out till next month.
Reply:Received my Eastwood Tig last week. Had my brother-in-law over. He was a welder for over 20 years. We ran the welder through its paces. AC and DC. He was impressed. We did thin steel and aluminum. Seemed to do steel and aluminum just fine. His only concern was how it would do on thick aluminum without water cooling. We tried two 3/8" think pieces, it ran a bead across the seam. Handle got a little warm. I'm  new to Tig welding but I'm happy with the performance. I like the control the foot pedal gives you.
Reply:Anybody know which factory over there is making these?  Looks like it might be a good alternative for those that don't wish to deal with the brothers in law...
