My Miller 252 airflow solenoid will not engage if the air pressure is set higher than 15 PSI.In class, I was taught on MIG to run the airflow around 30 PSI. Is there a reason it will not run over 15? It's driving me crazy. Also, what is the max amperage output of the 252 ion MIG? The machine maxes out at 300 amps, but surely that would only be reached if you were running a flux core at max? Thanks!MillerMatic 252Miller Xtreme 625Miller Digital Elite
Reply:Clarify please.Air flow solenoid? 15PSI?
Reply:Sorry, I used the wrong term. I meant to say I set my airflow to 15 cubic feet per hour. (cfph) At this speed, I can clearly hear the solenoid in the machine click open and shut when I press the trigger of the gun, and I have airflow to my weld.Anything higher than 15 cfph, and the solenoid will not open. I am then welding without any gas flow.MillerMatic 252Miller Xtreme 625Miller Digital Elite
Reply:The amount of flow "should not" have anything to do with the gas solenoid operation.
Reply:Amen, brother. Yet, for some reason, the solenoid will not activate to let air through over 15 cfph. I spent $125 in April to be told there is nothing wrong with the machine. I'll probably have to head in to school and ask my instructors what gives.MillerMatic 252Miller Xtreme 625Miller Digital Elite
Reply:Take the solenoid apart and have a look at the guts their should be a spring, armature and coil, maybe something like dirt or leftover machining debris is catching the armature. It should open regardless the flow volume although higher pressure through an orfice is used to increase flow it still should work. Sent from my SM-N915W8 using Tapatalk
