Hi fellow professionals and hobbyists,I'm wondering what's the flow of the process is for WPS and its PQR. Such as where does it start, where does it goes, etc. I hope anyone can shed some light and enlighten me on this particular topic. Thanks!
Reply:First thing to establish are material alloy, and thicknesses. Second it the specification the weldments will be processes under. If you are welding structural steel to AWS D1.1, there are pre-qualified WPS called SWPS for purchased from the AWS bookstore. http://www.aws.org/standards/page/st...fications-swpsIf no SWPS are available you may have to purchase the required specification, then read the requirements. From there you generate a preliminary WPS for testing with very specific parameters and weld a sample per that WPS. Then you test that sample(coupon) and process a PQR from the results if passed. Then you can use the results to generate a production WPS with less stringent parameters per the spec. At that point you submit to your customer or engineer, or architect for approval to proceed with production.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:Thanks Shovelon! This really helps me know the process behind the fabrication/production. |
