I got this sitting on my clients property all I know about it is that it was built in the 50's and shes a 400 amp Lincoln with a Hercules flat four gas engine and her cables come out of her back end.
Reply:I've never seen one quite like that.  Lincoln did make SAE-400 welders with Hercules engines many years ago, but that one looks like the control box from a motor or belt driven SAE-400 was mounted behind the control panel.Since it has dual continuous control, I'm almost certain it's an SAE-400.  I'm guessing It's in a modified or custom made enclosure.I hope someone here has seen one, I would kinda like to know myself.  Bob
Reply:Well I know it's from the 1950's and it could be a SA series but who knows?? I know I don't lol.
Reply:I believe that way back then Lincoln produced some machines that said John Deere on them, but could be wrong as I read way too much for total recall. If you have the serial number you might be able to find something out on the Lincoln website. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:wanna sell it?Complete Fabrication Shop specializing in pipe fabrication. Also offering heavy steel fabrication and sheet metal work.
Reply:That is the same panel as the 3 phase machine I had at a place I worked at.  NICE welding machine.got more pics?DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Very smooth dc out put some had 110 power out put for grinders ect, only maintance on generator side was new brushes. In the uk ford diesel engines was fitted nice piece piece of kit.
Reply:SAE300's had dual continuous controls  and so did motor generators down to 200 amps , i used them at Kaiser Steel . The only sae300 i ever saw that had a Hercules in it ,- was equipped with a SIX cylinder Hercules , probably a 1940 model. I am told that the hercules parts are hard to get and cost boo-qoo  bux !  ( but, then again, all parts cost too much . )[SIZE="5"Yardbird"
Reply:Talkin about funny Lincolns , i remember a weird one at Kaiser Steel. It was a war surplus Lincoln 1200 amp MOTOR generator . it had the motor in the CENTER  ...and .. a 600 amp generator at EACH end .  "Big Sucker" ! they had several of them . used mostly for sub arc . sometimes for HEAVY duty air-arcing  (5/8th " carbons . )[SIZE="5"Yardbird"
Reply:If it has a code# on it I might be able to tell you what it is. They did make a SAE400 with a Hercules motor.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]www.migfix.com
Reply:Where would I start looking for a code on this unit? I am hoping to with in a few weeks find some one that needs parts machined so I can pay for my food while I am cleaning and inventorying everything on this man's property. Although technically his son should be paying me 8$ per hr to watch his father while he's working out in his machine shop but I know it won't happen. I should be able to get a trailer cleaned up enough for me to sleep in, in a few weeks so I can do my inventorying and I can try to start that Lincoln and some of the other beast's on his property.
