Lately it seems my voltage reading is jumping around way too much. It doesn't stay on a number when the machine is not under load. I can turn the knob and the numbers seem to be much different in proportion to where the knob is set. For example I can turn it to full voltage and still not get 28.5 volts to read. It seem sometimes I have to strike an arc to get it to stabilize. Now I think this all may be part of the computer in this thing. This is my first high tech machine like this. Is the machine trying to auto-adjust itself in some way to what I am welding? Is all this normal.Yesterday was the worst it has been. Turned the machine on cold. Tried to set the voltage but it would not quit jumping around. Had the knob set to where 18 V normally would be. However the reading would go anywhere from 10-24 V. Should I take the machine into my LWS. It is still under factory warranty I believe.Patriot Performance AutoLincoln Power Mig 255CLincoln AC-225 StickVictor Journeyman O/AQuincy QT-5 Compressor
Reply:yea... if it is still within the period get the right attention... not twitching the electrical real time is hard to pinpoint the main problem...Unit in my fab shop dept:my good hand and team that trust me...A lone welder make art... a village full of welder make Miracles...
Reply:If you can, I would check the voltage adjustment with an ohm meter or scope.  Is it a dial or buttons?DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:David, It is digital, with a dial. It doesn't fluctuate when welding. Welds excellent. It just seems to jump around when sitting idle, as if it is waiting for a load to steady itself. I think it may be in the programing of the unit. I think I will call my LWS Monday and talk to them. I hate to take it in when there is nothing wrong with it. Like I said, it welds just fine.Patriot Performance AutoLincoln Power Mig 255CLincoln AC-225 StickVictor Journeyman O/AQuincy QT-5 Compressor
Reply:I would get it fixed under warranty before its too late.  Might as well have it right.3 years correct?I have called Lincoln with good luck, they may be able to help or recommend it goes in for repair.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Mine doesn't jump, but the two I have both have very touchy voltage dials.  I wish they were a little less sensitive.  However I've never had that problem with either of mine, but they do weld great.  I second the advice about having it fixed under warranty.  lt us know how it turns out.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
